Behind the Scenes by Jen Turano is the first book in the “Apart from the Crowd” series. Jen has created another laugh-out-loud masterpiece. Miss Permilia Griswold is one of the ladies of the wallflower section. Not having been taken in by high society Permilia listens for tidbits of information that she can use in her Miss Quill society gossip column. Overhearing a murder plot is not what she had in mind and losing her slipper only puts her in more danger. Since, Mr. Asher Rutherford isn’t taking her warning seriously she takes it upon herself to watch his back. This book was a delight to read. You get a glimpse of the 1880’s high society, with a light touch of romance and suspense. The storyline keeps moving until the very end. I can’t wait for the next one!
