Murder of Convenience by Linda Shenton Matchett is a stand-alone World War 2 novel. After Geneva Alexander’s father arranges a marriage, without her knowledge, to a man she can’t stand; Geneva leaves home and joins the USO. When he tracks her down and threatens her family if she doesn’t return with him, Geneva must make a life changing decision. When he turns up dead, Geneva is the prime suspect. With the help of music director Devon Royal, Geneva must prove her innocence, if that’s possible. This story moved right along. I liked how Geneva wanted to do her part for the war effort. I was beginning to wonder if the murderer was going to ever be discovered; there were so many suspects. The betrayal and forgiveness in the end was a refreshing touch. It made a great afternoon read.
